I’ve come across some great glitch-hop artists and I’e come across some great funk artists but none combine them better then this guy right here. My Artist of the Week has got to be Stickybuds. Stickybuds manages to combine raw glitchy sounds with upbeat lyrics and old familiar samples into a monster tune that can get any crowd going. A bit of his bio reads:
From the funkafied west coast of Canada, Stickybuds has been making his mark on music all over the globe. In the last few years he’s found himself performing in 14 different countries, captivating fans wherever he goes. His work ethic and passion have also earned him a residency at Canada’s Shambhala music festival (2005 – 2012), as well as performances at Glastonbury (UK), Splore Festival (NZ), Burning Man (USA) and the legendary Space club in Ibiza (ES).
With 20 releases on multiple labels, Sticky loves to create and play dance floor friendly music of many different tempo’s. His sets are filled with Funk, DNB, Glitch Hop, Reggae and Breaks all intricately woven through countless hours in the studio.
Stickybuds is definitelyone of my top favorite Canadian DJs. Wish I weren’t on the other side of the country haha. Anyways enough of me heres some recent tunes of his and his Fractal Forest Mix from Shambhala 2012. Enjoy!
In my scour tonight I decided to look for some fun, upbeat fucky/ elctro house and this is what I have found ! Disco Fries are just plain awesome! All of their tunes do a pretty good job of getting me movin’.
The Disco Fries are a multi-platinum production duo who have wrote and remixed tracks for Pitbull, Steve Aoki, Flo Rida, Tommie Sunshine, Armand Van Helden, Clinton Sparks and Katy Perry, to name a few. The duo is an integral part of helping to bridge the gap between EDM and the Top 40 world in their productions. Catch the Disco Fries touring globally while holding a residencies at Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, Lava Nightclub at Turning Stone & with Tommie Sunshine at Pacha NYC for their “Fries & Shine” events.
So I was browsing through Facebook the other day and found a note/ status update left by 21 year old producer Deorro for his fans. It turns out he and the Panda Funk Team will be offering online lessons and tips on producing music…
Producers, I apologize for the absence of me on soundcloud. I know I used to reply and help out by giving tips and training many of you, I don’t want to let that go. I went from 60 to 127 students with in a few months. Things got a bit hectic and I couldn’t keep track of who was who. So, me and my Panda Funk team have come up with a plan. Beginning 2013, we will start training again. Hopefully doubling the number of students. We have many new plans that will help us reach out to many of you a lot easier, such as at my shows, over email, through Skype, or on the road. For those in the LA area, ill be doing personal training, where I can help you in the studio. And finally, I know many of you have been asking for tutorials, that’s finally ready to go. So hang in there guys. Oh and one last thing, whether you’re still trying to figure out which program to start on, or how to get that final touch to a pro track, ill help you 🙂 no matter where you’re at in your career. Ill try my best! So get ready PandaFam, 2013 will be on and cracking!
I recently came across an artist who goes by the alias Sound Remedy. Great music i must say, there is just so much variety and intelligence in his melodies. looking forward to more of his music! Check out this remix of Nirvana’s All Apologies.
Here’s a fun remix of Stevie Wonder’s Sir Duke brought to you by JPod the Beat Chef! I always look forward to what the Chef has cooked up! You can always count on him to revive awesomely old tunes and put his own spin on it! Cheers!
Here’s a cool glitchy/ hiphop remix I came across a while back. Dutty Moonshine is the creation of Michael Rack and Alex Furley. Both have had years of experience mixing many genres from Hip-Hop to Breaks to Jungle and are known to rock the stage by reviving old songs from the 1920s and 30s. Check out these badboys of swing, and pop over to their SoundCloud page and check out what else they’ve got to offer! Also gotta give some credit to the original artist of this song… London Posse.
